Charley Patton - Founder Of The Delta Blues 1929-1935

Where, oh where do I start with Charley Patton? Charley Patton is the man. One of the most influential and original forefathers of the Delta blues with a style that is still more relevant and innovative than many who have tried to succeed him. Patton was and still is one of the all time greats. Generally if someone asks me (inanely), "oh.. so like.. uhh whats your favourite band and shit", I am at most times, at a lack to answer - then I remember Charley. With guitar playing that even the most prodigious of guitarists admire, a voice that sounds like it was carved out of railroad rocks with broken whiskey bottles and an almost unmatched talent for crafting tuneful, rambling, lonesome melodies, Charley Patton is virtually peerless.
